In recognition of Patriot’s Day and First Responder Appreciation Day on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, the Lindale Volunteer Fire Department received more than 80 cases of water and sports drinks as well as a gift certificate valued at $600 from representatives of Mount Sylvan Baptist Church.
Members of the church donated these items to the department. In addition to the donations, the LVFD received well wishes, prayers and signatures of approximately 100 church members.
Over the years, the LVFD has received consistent support from many sections of the community, which is helped make it the largest volunteer department in Smith County and East Texas.
Currently, the department has 39 members and will add new recruits from 10 recent applicants.
“It is an honor and privilege for the department members to live the department’s motto “Serving with Pride and Courage,’’ said LVFD Chief Joe Yeakley.
