Another successful volleyball season for the Lindale High School Lady Eagles came to a close this past weekend with a loss to Willis High School in the Class 5-A Area Playoffs held at Grapeland High School.
The Lady Eagles advanced to the area round after winning their bi-district match against Temple on Monday, Oct. 30.
Head coach Jessica Camp praised her girls for working hard and coming through with another winning season.
“It’s truly has been an incredible season,’’ she said. “It was one we weren’t quite ready for it to be over.’’
Seniors Mackenzie Martin, Lorin Reue, Alisha Kiser and manager Ataly Aranjon drew special praise from the coach.
“Our four seniors will be dearly missed,’’ she said. “We thank them for the positive, lasting impact they’ve made on this program. We love them very much.’’
Against Temple, the Lady Eagles won 25-13, 25-17, 16-25 and 25-19. Leading the Lady Eagles at the net were Brina Kuslak (10 kills, 3 blocks), Shelbi Steen (10 kills, 10 digs), and London Reue (9 kills).
Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce spread the ball around well to their teammates.
Thurman had 25 assists, 6 digs, and 5 aces, while Pierce added 13 assists and 8 digs to night’s totals.
Leading the defensive effort was Libero Alisha Kiser with 29 digs, and right alongside her was defensive specialist Jennifer Moyer, adding 14 digs.
In the area match against Willis, the Lady Eagles fell 13-25, 14-25 and 15-25.
Brina Kuslak had 8 kills and a block and Shelbi Steen contributed 5 kills and a block.
Harleigh Thurman led with 13 assists and 6 digs on the match. Defensive specialist Jennifer Moyer led in the back row with 14 digs, and following her was libero Alisha Kiser with 12 total digs.
