After disposing of Lufkin’s Lady Panthers in the bi-district round, the Lindale Lady Eagles fell to the Red Oak Lady Hawks in the Area round of the Class 5A volleyball playoffs this past Friday (Nov. 2).
Red Oak managed a 13-25, 20-25 and 20-25 victory.
The Lady Eagles built an impressive season record of 33-9 and rose to as high as No. 9 in the state volleyball rankings this year.
Other highlights include winning the Longview and Tyler tournaments as well as capturing second place in District 15-5A.
“Even though the season ended with a loss, (the Lady Eagles) have so much to be proud of and successes to celebrate this year,’’ said head coach Jessica Camp. “We will greatly miss our seven seniors next year: Cassie Quattlebaum, Kia Williams, Jennifer Moyer, Hannah Knox, Brina Kuslak, Cailynn Widemon, and Mykayla Walker. They have made a lasting impact on this program and have set the tone for our future Lady Eagles.’’
The Lindale High School Lady Eagles, second place winners in District 15-5A volleyball, downed Lufkin’s Lady Panthers in four sets on Tuesday (Oct. 30) in bi-district action at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler.
Up next was the area round against Red Oak on Friday, Nov. 2.
Against Lufkin, the Lady Eagles took the match by scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-19.
Leading Lindale at the net were Brina Kuslak (11 kills, 2 blocks), Skylar Wyllie (10 kills, 3 blocks), and Shelbi Steen (9 kills, 2 blocks, 10 digs). Harleigh Thurman had 27 assists and 4 kills on the night, and Kalaya Pierce added 17 assists and 6 digs. Libero Jennifer Moyer led the defensive effort with 26 digs in the four set battle.
