Lindale girls now No. 9 in state


Lindale’s Lady Eagles, now ranked as the No. 9 Class 4A team in the state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, wrapped up win No. 10 Tuesday night by defeating Rains, 63-33, in Emory.

The Lady Eagles are now 10-3 on the season.

Lindale jumped out to a 12-6 lead after one period and built that to 11 at the half with a 28-17 margin.

Rains was never able to close the gap, and by the end of the third period the Lady Eagles owned a 48-25 lead.

Zhanelle Geathers led the way for Lindale with 27 points, followed by Natasha Malone with seven, Neeley Doss with seven, Symonne Brookins with six, Hannah Brown with six, Paige Murphy with five and Ashley Lacey with five.

Doss, Lacey and Geathers all had three point baskets for the Lady Eagles.

Up next for Lindale is another road game in Canton on Friday, Dec. 14.

Lindale will be in Kaufman on Dec. 18 and will return home on Friday, Dec. 21 to take on Hallsville.
