A watch party for the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars’’ show, featuring The Luscious Crumb, will be held at the Lake Country Playhouse/Select Theater in downtown Mineola at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 30, said owner Dawn Trammell.

The Luscious Crumb was at one time located in Lindale but moved to Mineola several months ago.

Lindale High School seniors wanted to make sure they left a legacy for their underclassmen, so a few of them began meeting last September to come up with an inspirational gift they could donate to the school.

Even though several ideas were discussed, they kept coming back to a rough sketch of an eagle perched on a tree.

LHS journalism students win again

Lindale High School journalism students competed at the State UIL Academic meet in May and just as it has been in the past once LHS was entered it became a chase for second place.

Such is the consistent excellence of the LHS journalism department under the direction of Mikyela Tedder, who has seen her students win four UIL championships in a row and eight of the past 11 years.

For all that she’s accomplished athletically, it doesn’t seem right that Marion Brown Young of Hideaway is going to be inducted in to just one hall of fame.

Young who, despite having been retired from teaching and coaching for several years definitely lives up to her name, found success in just about any sport she tried, from basketball, to track, to softball.
